Operation Lead Site Manager
The ideal candidate will have experience leading both a production facility and a team. They should be able to analyze each step of the manufacturing process and make effective use of resources to deliver desired outcomes. The candidate will also have experience following safety and compliance guidelines diligently in order to create a healthy work environment for all employees.
Job Summary:
This position will be fully responsible for all machinery and equipment, manufacturing, and administrative related processes at the site. The position will report to the company’s Director of Operations. The position is responsible for equipment installations, personnel hiring, orientation, and training, organizational design, and development of SOP’s related to a successful plant operation. The position will oversee, manage, and continually improve the day-to-day operation of the plant. Responsible for all production and production-related activities at the site. Will ensure all employees continue to follow safe working procedures, and the wood pellets meet quality specifications in a timely manner while meeting plant cost objectives. The successful candidate will lead by example, help to develop the team, and prepare employees for future growth opportunities within the company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage all plant functions, including Production, Maintenance, Incoming Raw Material, Outgoing Products by truck to the port, Safety, Quality Assurance.
- Supervise and manage effective corrective, predictive, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Supervise and manage all manufacturing processes and personnel to meet or exceed daily Production goals on a consistent basis.
- Safeguard the health and safety of all employees and avoid legal jeopardy through strict compliance with the site safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Safeguard all company assets, including intellectual property, against theft and/or damage through effective employee training, testing and certification programs and strict enforcement of company security and plant visitation policies.
- Ensure plant is fully staffed, employees properly trained and equipment fully functional at all times.
- Ensure the plant is staffed to operate efficiently and continuously look for opportunities for improvement.
- Responsible for logistics to the port.
- Regional assistance to help other plant managers.
- Leverage plant resources to meet or exceed all KPI’s, most importantly safety, quality, productivity, waste, and budget.
- Maintain neat, clean, well-organized and well-maintained operations, warehouse, and administrative areas.
- Play an active role in plant recruiting, employee relations, and performance management. Review and approve all new hires, promotions, demotions, transfers, and raises.
- Ensure purchase orders are approved and processed in a timely manner
- Will require individual to manage time due to office type duties and hands on plant operations & maintenance follow-up and assistance with plant employees
Other Qualifications & Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results.
- Ability to think and plan ahead.
- Computer literate must be familiar with current software such as Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving skills and conflict.
Physical:
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to kneel, squat or bend.
- Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions.
- Have the ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reaching/working overhead,
- Be able lift/carry up to 50 pounds
- Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
Education & Experience:
Seven years related experience in a manufacturing environment; Technical, Associate, or bachelor’s degree in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. HS diploma or GED is a must.
