Unlocking Synergies: Shaping the Future of Sales
A sales role like no other
In Copenhagen Merchants Group, we have a number of companies that are all performing well.
Yet, we are convinced that, as a group, we can do even better—better because we are currently not fully exploiting all the synergies across our companies that we can genuinely offer to both new and existing customers.
To address this, we are creating a new position seeking a commercially driven and sales-oriented colleague who can support commercial activities and sales. Both with additional horsepower in individual segments and across the group's companies.
How can you succeed?
For you to succeed, various elements must work in harmony - grow together so to say!
First and foremost, it's important that you build strong relationships with relevant internal stakeholders and develop a solid understanding of what we can offer in terms of products and services across the group’s companies.
While the responsibility for commercial activities and sales ultimately lies with each individual company, you thrive in all phases of the sales process. Being a creative detective with strong resilience your key responsibilities will naturally include:
- Identify Market Opportunities and Establish Contact
- Attend Customer Meetings and Presentations
- Support Key Account Management
- Optimize Processes and Develop Sales Materials
- Conduct Market Analysis and Reporting
Additionally, success requires curiosity, creativity, and persistence - not only in identifying and highlighting business opportunities but also in your interactions with new and existing customers.
You
We don't believe in quick fixes. And neither do our customers and long-term partners.
We believe that our growth and development go hand in hand with that of our clients – Copenhagen Merchants and subsidiaries always being in it for the long run. You are therefore recognized for your relational skills, quick and effortless ability to establish strong connections, but more importantly, possess the ability to develop and sustain long-term, constructive, and meaningful relationships.
Additionally, you possess a unique adaptability. Our companies are at varying levels of maturity when it comes to the discipline of sales. Our clients also differ greatly depending on 'product or services'—ranging from large multinational corporations to smaller, local, family-owned businesses.
While it may seem cliché for a sales profile, we do expect that you are driven by achieving visible results, and that you are the type of person who seeks to shape your environment rather than waiting for it to shape you.
Being rather implicit at this point – You are a true Octopus. Navigating in dynamic environments, industries and stakeholders, maintaining a holistic overview in complex situations, and always focus on value rather than individual success. More to follow …
Your experience
This is a new role for you to shape and form. Consequently, there are many potential paths of experience that could lead to success in this position, whether you have more or less experience.
However, we do have certain expectations regarding what might be particularly relevant.
Since cold calling and cold contacting are natural parts of the job, it's crucial that you are comfortable with these tasks, ideally have experience in them, and perhaps even genuinely enjoy them.
You are likely to have a background in sales or a business development role within B2B, preferably within or related to sectors such as logistics, shipping, commodities or trading.
Even though it might not traditionally align with a sales profile, we also expect you to be known for working in a disciplined and structured manner in your market approach. Therefore, you should possess strong analytical and creative skills for spotting trends and identifying market opportunities.
A relevant education in sales, marketing, business development, or a related field is a plus. You must be proficient in both written and spoken Danish and English and have a natural flair for IT, including MS Office, CRM systems, LinkedIn and other creative ways to identify leads
What can we offer you?
We truly believe we have a lot to offer.
You will become part of a healthy company—one with a unique culture, financial stability and strength, and a strong commitment to development and investment. You’ll work closely with our owner, Simon who rarely holds back on good ideas and Malthe. We provide free access to further education, and Halima ensure a pleasant and healthy environment. You'll be working from our newly renovated and decorated Nordhavn office reflecting our international presence. We offer a competitive salary package. The average age in our fully owned subsidiaries is 40.2 years, and our gender distribution is 70/30 (which is quite good for our industry).
An indicator of our special work environment is our low employee turnover. Our most recent departure is Lars, who is retiring after wearing the 'Racing Green' jersey for more than 34 years.
With this being a new role, we encourage curiosity and offer the ability to, over time, develop a special interest for one of our segments allowing you to move on as an integrated part of one area if mutual interest.
So, what should you do if you're curious to hear more?
We continuously interview candidates, so please apply sooner rather than later. Feel free to include a brief application or motivation, and we consider it a plus if you include a short video presentation of yourself (max. 30 seconds).
If you have questions about the position, the team or the company, please feel free to call Malthe Johansen, +45 22 45 88 82 or Simon Bach Nielsen. +45 60 13 10 10.
