BESS Development & Project Manager
Sites. Stakeholders. Storage. Ready to lead green growth from the ground up?
From Location to Operation
We’re looking for a sharp and hands-on profile to help drive the next stage of CM Batteries’ journey - developing and delivering large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
You’ll take lead on identifying and maturing new project locations across Denmark - and potentially the rest of Europe - moving from opportunity spotting to ready-to-build. It’s a role that combines technical insight, commercial instinct, and the ability to move things forward with landowners, grid operators, municipalities, and partners.
You’ll be part of a small and entrepreneurial team within the Copenhagen Merchants Group - and backed by an ownership committed to making real green energy infrastructure happen.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Proactively identify and assess new BESS project locations across Denmark – and potentially the rest of Europe
- Evaluate interconnection feasibility, land availability, and permitting requirements
- Leverage the existing network of locations and partnerships within the CM Group
- Lead negotiations with grid operators regarding interconnection agreements, capacity allocation, and technical condition
- Engage with landowners, municipalities, and other stakeholders to secure land rights or leases and address permitting issues
- Manage the permitting and interconnection process – including applications, documentation, and coordination with authorities
- Identify and mitigate project risks across technical, regulatory, environmental, and financial areas
- Act as primary liaison towards EPC partners when projects move into the ready-to-build phase
What You Bring
You know how to turn complexity into clarity - and decisions. You have the structure and communication skills to drive multi-stakeholder processes, and the appetite to help build something new.
We imagine you bring:
- 5+ years of experience in renewable energy or infrastructure project development (BESS, solar, or wind)
- Proven experience working with landowners, grid companies, and permitting authorities
- Strong commercial and technical understanding
- A hands-on mindset and the ability to juggle multiple tasks
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Energy, or Business
- Fluency in English – and Danish is definitely a plus
What We Offer
First things first: Our cultural ambassador is an octopus – the famous T.W. Heart. We wear shorts in the summer, and you’re more likely to be handed a cinnamon roll from Halima than a corporate ‘how-to guide’. While being both modern and flexible, we believe in presence – physically in Nordhavn, and mentally in the work we do.
But behind the informal surface, you’ll find a role with real substance. You’ll be trusted with visible and impactful work, close to decisions and people who shape the direction of the company … you are actually one of them. You’ll have the freedom to influence what you work on, and the chance to grow with it – fast.
You’ll step into a central role in shaping a growing green energy business – part of a group that has quietly built a broad international portfolio in trade, logistics, and infrastructure, while keeping its independence, Octo Spirit, and people. Expect coaching, learning opportunities, and a lot of autonomy. We also offer high retention – not because people get stuck, but because they stay by choice.
