You may already be familiar with the name Copenhagen Merchants. You have expectedly already met one, two or more of your future colleagues – if not from the Hamburg office, then from our Copenhagen, Geneva, Sao Paolo, Kaunas, or Barcelona offices. And you already have an established know-how about and reputation in the grain/agri-sector.
Focus: Central and Western Europe
Copenhagen Merchants is not only expanding when it comes to geographical presence (yet another new geography soon to be revealed 😊) but also in our existing teams. For our Hamburg team we wish to add yet a broker focusing on brokerage of grains/overland flows to Central and Western Europe with a focus on train and truck business.

Copenhagen Merchants … in Hamburg
You will be part of our very experienced broker team in Hamburg, that like all our other broker teams focus on both originators, traders and consumers in the growing international market. Your colleagues in the Hamburg team work closely with 30 brokers, execution and chartering specialists, in our other teams in Copenhagen, Kaunas, Geneva, Barcelona and Sao Paulo consisting of more than 10 nationalities.
And working in our Hamburg office, you will work in Hamburg’s historic Speicherstadt district, recognized as a UNESCO World heritage site, also being a testament to Hamburg’s rich maritime and trade history.
Your responsibilities and tasks
You will overall be responsible for brokerage of grains and its related overland flows via train and truck to various European destinations with main focus on marketing to Western and Central European (e.g. German, Benelux, Polish etc.) end consumers and traders. You will naturally be involved in all brokerage related tasks including supporting execution and following train freight market.
And like all brokers, you will support the further development of the CM Navigator* trading platform, providing data and input such as price updates, news, S&D analyses, and trade flows.
You

If you are not already an experienced broker or trader, we know from experience, that people that thrives in the international brokerage environment, is characterized by being curious, openminded, word-keeping and by having sublime social skills, being good at establishing, developing, and retaining social relations. And we know from experience, that people that thrive in Copenhagen Merchants specifically, also has a profound interest for international business / commodities, is ambitious, and is flexible and pragmatic.
You have proficient knowledge about developing cost-efficient logistical solutions, preferably including rail logistics for bulk products. Commodity trading / brokerage and execution experience from the Agri-sector is an advantage but not a precondition
You hold solid IT skills – both in regard to MS Office and from working with other enterprise-systems like ERP, CRM, PowerBI, etc. Language-wise you are at least proficient in German and English.
