Broker Assistant - Kaunas
Agri commodities. Real trade. A path into brokerage.
We usually respond within a week
Curious about brokerage and Merchanteering – and ready to start close to the action in Kaunas?
Why this role exists
Copenhagen Merchants connects buyers and sellers of grains and related commodities across Europe and beyond. Our Kaunas hub is an important part of that setup – home to 3 brokers, 3 execution specialists, 1 analyst and 2 business supports. An experienced team that moves real cargo every day.
To keep things sharp, we’re looking for a Broker Assistant to support the brokerage work out of Kaunas – and who, over time, wants to grow into a Junior Broker role.
This is not an “admin-only” job. You’ll be close to prices, flows, clients and recaps – and if you show the right mindset and skills, we fully expect your responsibilities to grow.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll help the brokers spend as much time as possible on the market and on clients – by keeping structure, data and follow-up tight.
Your day-to-day will include for example:
Assisting brokers with price overviews, indications and simple freight and margin calculations
Preparing and updating recaps, confirmations and basic contract details
Keeping track of positions, enquiries and follow-up tasks in our systems
Helping feed prices, trades and market information into CM Navigator and internal tools
Coordinating key market information and updates with CM’s other broker hubs (Copenhagen, Hamburg, Geneva, Barcelona, Dubai and São Paulo)
Coordinating with execution, operations and business support when needed
Gradually taking more direct contact with counterparties (e-mails, chats, calls) as you grow into the role
Over time, as you learn the products, players and trade flows, you’ll be invited closer to the commercial decisions – and into more direct brokerage activities.
Who you are
You don’t have to be a broker yet – but you like the idea of becoming one.
We imagine you bring:
A genuine interest in international business, commodities, shipping or logistics
Strong structure and attention to detail – you like when things add up
Comfort with numbers and Excel; you’re not afraid of a spreadsheet
Curiosity about markets: prices, flows, risks and how it all connects
The confidence to communicate clearly with colleagues – and, over time, with clients
A proactive mindset: you see what needs to be done and you do it
Good English skills (spoken and written); other languages are a plus
Your background could be from business, economics, logistics, shipping, or similar – or you may already have experience from a support role in trading, freight or execution. More important than the exact degree is your drive to learn the brokerage craft and your willingness to start where you create value fastest.
Where you’ll sit – and who you’ll join
You’ll be based in Kaunas, working closely with an experienced and well-performing team of brokers, execution specialists, analyst and business support. It’s a mix of profiles, backgrounds and ages – but with a shared focus: doing good business together and looking after our clients.
We call what we do Merchanteering – combining commercial instinct, curiosity and solid execution.
And yes, you’ll also meet our cultural ambassador, the octopus T.W. Heart, along the way.
What we offer
By joining Copenhagen Merchants, you become part of an international group with a strong brand in agri-commodities and dry cargo – and a value chain that includes brokerage, freight, terminals, logistics and digital market intelligence.
In this role, you’ll get:
A close-up view of real brokerage and commercial decision-making
Daily sparring with experienced brokers, execution specialists and analysts
A clear path to grow into a Junior Broker role if the mutual fit is right
A flat, informal culture with high ambitions and low ego
Opportunities to join industry events, client visits, and CM group gatherings – from trade fairs to internal social events across hubs
The chance to ask questions, learn fast and gradually take on more responsibility
You won’t be parked in a corner. You’ll be part of the team.

Please upload your CV and a short written motivation.
