Senior Accountant
Hands-on finance. Local ownership. International trading.
Do you know accounting, VAT, payments and local finance processes – and would you like to take ownership of the finance setup in our Dubai office?
Why Copenhagen Merchants Needs You
With you on board as our Senior Accountant, Copenhagen Merchants in Dubai is structured and reliable - even when the trading office is moving fast.
You’ll be the person who keeps the financial kitchen tidy: deadlines followed, payments controlled, reporting on time, and the details in good order.
In practice, you’ll handle day-to-day accounting, AP/AR, banking, payroll, VAT, reporting and local compliance for our Dubai entity - while working closely with Group Finance in Copenhagen.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys accuracy, structure and responsibility. Not “finance from far away” - but local finance that keeps the office running and gives the business room to focus on clients, markets and growth.
Keeping Dubai in Balance
Your main tasks will include:
Daily accounting and finance operations for the Dubai entity
Accounts receivable, invoicing and follow-up with brokers and clients
Accounts payable, D365FO/ReadSoft, payment journals and banking workflows
Bank reconciliations, cash flow overview and multi-currency account handling
Monthly close, including accruals, reconciliations and P&L / balance sheet reporting to Group Finance
VAT reporting, corporate tax support, payroll administration and salary payments
Travel expenses, employee reimbursements, Acubiz and corporate credit card follow-up
Support on finance-related compliance, including client onboarding, KYC and sanctions-related procedures
Coordination with auditors, banks, external advisors and local service providers
Ongoing improvement of local finance processes and controls
You’ll be locally anchored in Dubai – but with close and regular contact to Group Finance in Copenhagen.
The Kind of Person We Trust With the Numbers
You are a reliable, structured and independent finance profile with strong hands-on accounting experience.
We imagine you bring:
Strong experience with accounting and operational finance
Experience with AP, AR, bank reconciliations, payments and monthly close
Experience with VAT reporting, payroll and basic compliance processes
Good understanding of financial controls and reporting routines
Experience with ERP/accounting systems – preferably Microsoft D365FO or similar
Strong Excel skills
Fluent English, written and spoken
The ability to work independently in an international business environment
Experience from trading, shipping, logistics or commodity-related businesses is a plus. So is experience with UAE accounting and tax requirements, intercompany accounting, FX, audits, external advisors or trade finance.
You are structured, trustworthy and pragmatic. You keep things in order – without making things more complicated than they need to be. But most importantly – you are a good match to our professional, international and a fun team :-).
What You Step Into
We offer a broad and independent finance role in an international, family-owned company with a long-term perspective.
You’ll get:
A role with real responsibility and local ownership
Close collaboration with Dubai management and Group Finance in Copenhagen
Exposure to international trading and finance operations
A stable but entrepreneurial business environment
The chance to help shape and improve local finance processes
A Scandinavian-style company culture with trust, direct communication and short decision paths
